New Applicant for Provisions from KYCO - CSP.
Gathering of information from Mdm Vani on her Family's status - by the student committee members under The Education Assistance Programme of CSP.
The Report dated 12th 2025 , extended to CSP team by the students.
On January 12th, 2025 (the as part of the CNY food distribution activities) the SCP Committee conducted an informal interview with Mdm Rani, at Tadika Wawasan. The session was led by Queenie assisted by S.Ru & E.Xin. S.Ru audio recorded the minutes in BM. The family, was referred to us by Mala ( from Sungei Choh). There are four members: the mother, Kanniaamah, aged 43; her husband, aged 47; and their two children, aged 13 and 11, both still attending school.
Medical/ health status-, the family does no have any disabled members (OKU). But the father suffers from a serious heart condition that requires regular medical attention, including monthly check-ups and appointments at a government healthcare facility. This ongoing health concern adds to the family’s challenges, as it requires time and resources to manage him effectively. Hence, this affects them financially
The family’s primary source of income is from the father’s job as a security guard, earning approximately RM1,000 plus per month as he is unable to work when he is unwell. Addition to the 1k, they receive RM300 from government assistance monthly, which helps with their basic needs. To further support the household, Kanniaamah works occasionally at a flower shop earning with a supplementary income of RM 50 per day. Despite these efforts, their financial situation remains tight, although they are fortunate not to have to pay rent, as they reside at Kanniaamah’s mother’s house.
The family’s living environment is modest but the house has structural issues. The house has a broken ceiling and damaged walls, which require repairs. While the overall environment is manageable, the structural problems are their most pressing concern and they have been identified as a priority for improvement. Each time it rains heavily the house gets flooded or wet and they have to move temporary to stay an aunty house.
Communication during the interview was somewhat limited due to language barriers. However, the committee was able to gather sufficient information to record and report to KYCO and the sponsors. As part of the visit to meet us, the CSP committee/ sponsors provided the family with one set of CNY provisions to help alleviate their immediate needs.
In conclusion, while the family’s financial situation is stable, their modest income and the father’s health condition pose significant challenges. Their primary need at this time is assistance with house renovations to improve their living conditions. Attached below are photos of their house conditions and the family received the provision from today) Continued support and monitoring by KYCO will be vital in ensuring their well-being and helping them overcome their current challenges.
Many of the students have done information gathering in the early days ( 7 years ago & before covid) when they followed us to visit the families..it's to give them a multi facet experiencial learning thro such interactive activities - to learn about life, to extend kindness: the core idea is to treat the interviewee with respect and dignity, regardless of their circumstances.
They felt using BM was a bit of a tongue twister 😁 unless the students can speak in Tamil.
