Welfare, Food & Provisions

At any one time KYCO-CSP is helping a minimum of 70 impoverished families get basic food provisions, without which the elderly, disabled & young dependants will go hungry.
Our KYCO-CSP volunteers and friends regularly visit these families and offer their caring support & encouragement.
According to needs, each family also receives a monthly or quarterly cash aid to tide them over difficult times, pay for their transport to hospitals, buy needed medicines, books and school necessities.
The consistent support through the years have enabled families to stay intact instead of being separated. Affected children are encouraged to stay in school and supported up to secondary and university levels, including skill training institutes instead of dropping out and falling into vice.
We have truly heart-warming stories of some recipient families who have become happier and out of kindness and gratitude have learned to give back to other destitute families by looking out for them, referring them to sources of help, and even becoming a source of joy and care for the poor families in their community.
The elderly and infirm, who are often lonely without their children staying with them continued to receive regular visits from our KYCO-CSP volunteers, and sometimes accompanied by children under our KYCO-CSP Education Programme who brought them much warmth and great cheer.
KYCO-CSP continues to work as a partner with the Community Psychiatry Unit (CPU) of Hospital Kuala Lumpur to provide food and provisions to the needy mental health patients and their families.
We have organized Hari Raya Food Provisions to 50 Needy Families of Mental Health Patients to add Raya Cheer to them, by providing basic provisions such as rice, instant noodles, dates, Raya Kueh. They have young children where the bread winner suffers from mental illnesses and are unable to earn regular income to feed their families.
Cooked Food is also distributed as part of Raya Cheer to the less fortunate families of all races living around PPR (Public Flats) vicinities in Bukit Jalil.Latest on Welfare, Food & Provisions
Educational Assistance and Mentoring

KYCO-CSP continues to assist children from poor, broken, and dysfunctional homes. Some have either been abandoned by one/ both parents. Some are cared for by grandparents’ or single father/ mother who are busy making ends meet with little time to help their kids with school work or attend to their emotional well-being. And so, their children are often left alone to their own devices without much parental care and supervision. Many perform poorly in school due to neglect.
KYCO-CSP volunteers have been rendering help for the last 12 years to these needy children, helping them navigate through the many family challenges as they grow and supporting them in times of difficulties. Most importantly, we help them to stay interested and do their best in school, provide the right guidance & mentoring, learning good discipline, and virtues like filial piety, kindness and gratitude, keeping them away from social ills and helping them fulfil their potentials and aspirations.
Since inception in 2012 until today, KYCO-CSP has nurtured and continues to do so with 3 batches of students. Heartfelt stories of kids’ who have benefitted from patient guidance and caring help through the years abound.
Most kids have started with the Edu Program with little confidence and low esteem, some having problem recognizing alphabets even at primary school, not toilet trained at 4-5 years old, would not open their mouths to speak but have today grown to become self-confident and capable. Several were able to produce videos, speaking, writing and even giving good English commentaries (see Sifu’s 80th Birthday Celebration video produced by the children)
A few from the first batch students such as QN have done well in her SPM Exam and in 2021 have won a scholarship to study accountancy in a local University. She is being groomed to help the younger students as well. Being the Head of the CSP Edu Student Committee, she has been leading other CSP Edu Kids to participate in educational activities, social and charity events, including the last KYCO-CSP Edu Program Christmas Party (2021) and the CNY Gift to Poor Families Projects. She together with a few Edu Project Students also took initiative to help exam year students to brush up on weak subjects and tracking the progress of younger students.
The third batch students who are all in Primary School receive weekly coaching on learning conversational English and guidance on moral values.
The CSP Edu Program will be on-going for a long time yet as many children from these poor families and broken homes truly need our kind support and compassionate guidance in building a good foundation in their early life. They deserve and should be given every assistance to do well in their studies, fulfil their potential and become a responsible, capable young adult who will lift their family from the cycle of poverty and with hope that they will contribute back to society.

Flood Relief

On Dec 18 2021, one of the worst floods in recent history has hit Malaysia where 50 people lost their lives and over 125,000 were displaced. Continuous rain has caused severe flooding in 6 States including Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Pahang, Melaka and Negeri Sembilan.
The unprecedented deluge caused prolonged misery and wide-spread devastation where entire villages and towns were submerged under water, some for over a week.
Flood waters reached up to roof levels, damaged and cut-off roads and accessibility, destroyed many homes and businesses. Electricity outages and no drinking water added to their misery.
Many flood victims suffered hunger and thirst, lost their belongings with some left with only the shirt on the back. Even when donated rice was received, there was no water to cook.
For 2 weeks after the flood, many were still reeling from the aftermath.
In the midst of their distraught, KYCO-CSP swiftly identified those with critical need for help, especially villages in fringes of towns and those further inland that were cut off from the mainstream donated supplies and where help was scarce due to poor accessibility.
We called for immediate help from members of KYCO and the many CSP friends who have generously supported with ready funds and donated items. We are extremely thankful too to locals and village heads who have knowledge of the affected families and their critical needs.
A few rounds of the critical supplies were distributed over a span of 3 weeks.
We were able to source for boat and 4 Wheel Drives and Lorries to reach these needy families.
Basic necessities such as ready to eat food, blankets, towels, clothing, stoves, electrical items like rice cookers were rushed to the worst hit areas such as Ulu Langat, Bentong, Lanchang, Karak, Raub, Mentakab, Batang Berjuntai.
We are extremely grateful to the many kind donors, members of KYCO, CSP Friends. Your kindness and generosity are deeply appreciated and have made this possible.Covid-19 Relief Program

Covid-19 Pandemic has brought untold suffering. The magnitude and depth of which is unseen before and has adversely impacted many sections of our society and families.
We continue to see widespread closure of businesses, loss of jobs, with many fallen into hard times, struggling with putting food on the table, some becoming homeless and all desperate for help. Many bread winners and family members have succumbed to the virus and made destitute overnight with deep emotional distress, with some falling into depression.
The prolonged crisis has also hit hard the old and infirm and those depending on welfare aid, and due to movement restrictions were unable to access the critical help needed.
In response to the devastating effects of the Covid Pandemic, KYCO-CSP has immediately reached out by organising relief efforts to help these hard hit communities and families during these crucial times.
During the height of the Covid Pandemic, over 200-300 of such desperate families received the needed food & provisions.
It is our Sifu Kuan Ming’s heartfelt wish to “see as many people as possible are helped during this crisis, for us to open up our hearts to benefit others, care and serve selflessly to relieve their suffering, to inspire love and kindness in them and in return, helping them lead more happy and purposeful lives.”
