Take home messages for and from the students who happened to discuss today's outing experiences as below:-.
Many of these residents at the Care Centre are post stroke / neuro issues.
Their children contribute RM 1500 to 2500 for their parents to be looked after at the Care Centre and to recuperate as there is no one at their own home who is able to manage the condition as the children need to work. Moreover they could not afford to engage a qualified maid. Hence, their children each contribute some money and place them at the Care Centre.
Some residents need to be fed too.
Usually after 6 to 8 months many are able to walk or regain sufficient physical functionality to handle themselves.
They then return to their own family.
From the students: they said these residents' children are practicing filial piety. The family' members of these aged residents are going through the human cycle of Birth/young, Aged & sickness. The aged and unwell are mostly thin, not smiling and need people to feed them, like when they were babies. Babies and aged both need feeding. Everyone is independent of each other, just as many aspects in life and we must remember this.
