Aid & Support to Shelter Homes

Visit to two OKU shelter homes in Johor Bahru

Dear dharma brothers and sisters, as many are already aware, sister CF has been carrying out our CSP outreach program in Johor Bahru where she currently resides.

Recently she has visited two OKU shelter homes to render essential food items and provisions for the residents.

Below is her report:

Brief Write up on OKU home for Boys in Johor Jaya, JB.

This home started 9 years ago and took in around 30 boys so far.
They take in OKU children and money collected based on the parent's capability n are mostly free as they were taken in when abandoned in hospitals or left orphaned. They also seek help both in money to upkeep the centre or foodstuff so I would send them either hot meals or foodstuff every month.
Some kids here are bit aggressive so they are placed in other rooms under supervision. They also hv doctors who volunteered to come over on regular basis for those who need medications or treatment.

Brief write up on OKU Home for Children

This home started just a year ago and managed by J with the help of FL (her Assistant).
There are around 15 children with 5 caretakers including the Head and Assistant.
Situated in Johor Jaya, they are self-managed with not many donors so the Head normally will go out to gather more funds or sponsors . These children are all OKU with limited mobility but they are taught lessons daily and proper manners and are very well behaved. One of the best homes I have visited so far... the children here ranged from a baby of 5 months to 40 year old man. Normally I will buy them meals or foodstuff every month.
