UPDATE: KYCO- CSP, October 2024: Provisions & etc for those who appeal for assistance in their moments of difficulty.
Connie has always been an active and helpful member of KYCO-CSP, doing her best to assist those in need when she lived in Selangor. Even though she now resides in Johor, she continues to be a valuable partner in our service efforts.
1. In response to an appeal from a shelter home that cares for elderly residents who are single, without relatives, and unable to manage their own expenses due to becoming unemployable in their 70s and 80s and requiring geriatric care, these aged citizens found a place at the Sentosa Charity Home. One resident at the shelter is 105 years. Connie delivered diapers, oil, biscuits, & items suitable for the aged on our behalf. The Home operates with funds from the Welfare Service, the aid the elderly residents receive from their social welfare allocation, and from good Samaritans. On occasions when they face difficulty making ends meet, they appeal to us for assistance.
2. Connie visited Jay's family. Jay's health has improved somewhat. His wife is unable to work full-time as she has to take care of Jay, including taking charge of his medical treatments and looking after the other family members. The Deepavali supplies that Connie delivered to them brought some cheer.
It is truly fortunate that, through the accumulated contributions from all carers and thro KYCO -CSP we are able to provide a small material relief to our fellow residents in this land. Indeed, human life is filled with ups and downs. Having the opportunity to assist and witness the helplessness that comes with old age especially in the twilight years of life, prompts me to reflect on "the goal of our life".
